Our founder and Managing Director is a strong believer in giving people opportunities - in fact, STL has been built into a strong firm that smoothly integrates its profit oriented foundation with her community work efforts.
Free Training Programme
As IT specialists, we believe in improving the penetration and adoption of IT. Therefore, STL has been supporting computer literacy in the East African by providing needy students with free training and holding exhibitions at institutions of higher learning.
Initiated in 1994, our Free Training Programme is designed to help Kenyan graduates counter the problems they faced in securing employment due to the lack of a basic computer skills. The programme has benefited over 600 graduates and school leavers to date.
Telecentres
STL is actively involved in sponsoring the creation of telecentres in villages and remote areas. STL offers free training in the centres, as well as examinations and certification. In addition, the telecentre provides internet and email facilities to the local community.
So far three such telecentres have been created in Nairobi: at Kivuli, NCCK in Huruma and Gigiri Police Station.
Centre for Corporate Governance
Jyoti is one of the directors of the Centre for Corporate Governance in Kenya. The Centre is involved in convincing both corporations and governments that good governance (as opposed to the corruption that in now rife), will the impetus to lift Africa out of it's present quagmire.
