Oracle Announces Upgraded Certification Programme

Oracle is delighted to announce the expansion of it's highly successful certification programme. Officially launched at Oracle OpenWorld in December, the programme now provides two new certification credentials: Oracle Certified Associate and Oracle Certified Master. These two new tiers are available for achieving 9i DBA certification and will be released later in the year for Application and Java Developers.

The expanded Oracle Certification Programme (OCP) now offers a variety of certification levels that are built to fit the needs of IT professionals as well as organizations looking to hire them. Each level constitutes reaching a benchmark of experience and expertise that is industry-recognized and approved. And, with each new credential, come increased opportunities, higher pay, and more benefits to keep Oracle professionals successful.

Oracle Associate
The Oracle Certification Programme now begins at the Associate level. At this apprentice skill level, Oracle Associates have a foundation knowledge that will allow them to act as a junior team member working with database administrators or application developers. The Oracle Associate certification gives a beginning IT professional a qualification they can leverage as an aid to starting a career with Oracle technologies. To become an Oracle Associate, you must successfully pass the exams designated at the Oracle Associate level of your selected job role. Typically, two exams are required: the first one can be taken via the Internet, and the subsequent exam must be taken in a proctored testing environment. By completing your Oracle Associate, you are halfway along to achieving the Oracle Certified Professional credential, highly recognized and valued
by employers around the world.

Oracle Certified Professional
The Oracle Certified Professional credential is the next step in a rewarding career working with Oracle technologies. To be successful seeking this credential, you will need to continue your Oracle training and gain on the job experience. Oracle Certified Professionals have proven skills for managing a large-scale database or developing robust applications that are deployed enterprise-wide. To become an Oracle Certified Professional, you must successfully pass all required exams in your selected job role, including those at the Associate level. By obtaining this credential, you will have the opportunity to apply for more senior level opportunities and gain more credibility and support from your employer. Oracle Certified Professionals are ranked above all other IT certification holders for being both the most sought after professionals in today’s marketplace as well as
those earning the most pay.

Oracle Certified Master
The Oracle Certified Master is the highest-level credential you can earn in the Oracle Certification Programme. Oracle Certified Masters are senior level members of IT departments or consultants, and are responsible for handling mission critical database systems and applications. They have proven Oracle skills and are looked upon as the expert within their organizations. To become an Oracle Certified Master, you must first be an Oracle Certified Professional. Additionally, you’re required to attend two advanced Oracle technology courses within your selected job role, pass a pre-admission exam, and then successfully complete a hands-on practice-based examination in an Oracle lab environment. Not surprisingly, an Oracle Certified Master commands the highest salaries in the industry and has the experience and skill level that very few can deliver
