An Interview with Securicor

Here are extracts of an interview about eHorizon Human Resources with Dominic Ooko, Head of Human Resources at Securicor:

Why did Securicor choose eHorizon Human Resources?
When I joined Securicor as Head of Human Resources in 2002, eHorizon Human Resources was already in place. However I do know that during the tendering processes, Securicor did look at a number of software packages, of which eHorizon Human Resources was found to be the system that “fit” the best. Our in-house IT department was also very keen on acquiring eHorizon - the system’s reputation was well known. The fact there was local support available was also a deciding factor. Furthermore, the fact the system would be able to interface with other software, such as a Payroll System, was also a huge bonus.

Anything in particular that struck you when you started using the system?
I was impressed that I didn’t have to attend a formal training course. I had used other systems before, and I found the eHorizon system very intuitive. I also noted that Securicor were only utilizing a small part of the system - I have personally undertaken a number of initiatives so that users could truly appreciate a system as capable as eHorizon. Securicor now gets much more out of the system, most notably the reports. I also found that the system is very stable, and does not corrupt data like some other systems I have previously worked on.

How has eHorizon changed things at Securicor?
In addition to helping us streamline various work processes, eHorizon Human Resources has greatly reduced the manual records we hold here. Prior to the introduction of the system, information about the entire workforce (over 10,000 employees) was held in giant files. A user-friendly system like this has made computerization much easier. And it goes without saying that data retrieval is much faster now.

What do you think of support of eHorizon Human Resources?
STL Support has been readily available. In fact, I really believe that there is no problem that they can’t solve. STL has also trained an in-house person on supporting the system – a huge benefit.

Would you recommend eHorizon Human Resource to others?
I would definitely recommend the system, and in fact have done so already to a number of companies. I feel very confident in recommending eHorizon.

How would you sum eHorizon up in one sentence?
eHorizon Human Resources has brought about efficiency and reduced the workload. I feel the system has empowered individual users, who can now enter data and see immediate results through various reports. The HR system has very much revolutionized the HR practice at Securicor.
