eHorizon Time and Attendance
eHorizon Time and Attendance is an application that records the attendance of employees using biometric technology and the power of the Oracle database.
eHorizon Time and Attendance enables an organization to eliminate "time-fraud" – where workers claim to have worked for longer hours than they actually have – and "buddy-punching" – where one worker punches or signs in for another. It can also be used to control access to highly sensitive areas and it substantially reduces the inaccuracies, and high management costs associated with such systems. Furthermore, the system makes the attendance module intelligent enough to compute accurate attendance including multiple levels of overtime.
eHorizon Time and Attendance is part of the eHorizon ERP, an integrated set of applications, which is designed to transform your business to a strategic force in today’s fast-moving corporate arena.
The Two Key Modules
1. Identity
FingerScan and FingerLan together make up the Identity module:FingerScan: FingerScan is the name given to the fingerprint readers. FingerScan creates and store human finger template (not the actual fingerprint), a person’s identity and then provide access authorization, time and location of use etc. to any controlled system by scanning the person’s finger. Since the equipment stores only templates, the identity cannot be transferred to any other person; nor can it be stolen, written down, or compromised. FingerLan: FingerLan is the operating system that configures and controls a network of FingerScan from a PC. FingerLan gathers and stores information, such as user, location, time, access right etc. from FingerScan to manage and control user location, time and access rights. This provides a detailed audit trail of FingerScan use.
2. Attendance
Attendance module interacts with FingerLan and transfers all the information to the Oracle time and attendance database. This module has provision to declare multiple sets of profiles in various levels (organization profile, department profile, individual profile).
The profile basically makes the attendance module intelligent enough to compute accurate attendance, including multiple levels of overtime. The user can download attendance information into an MS-Excel spreadsheet or print various reports on attendance and access rights.

Time and attendance applications are common in environments with large numbers of workers, a high turnover of casual workers and a high use of contract/part-time workers. Plants, large retail chains, hotels, large commercial or government organization’s are all candidates for time and attendance applications.

FingerScan takes advantage of the convenience of the human finger to provide irrefutable, unique personal identification. A self–contained terminal enrolls and verifies users, stores their finger records, keeps transaction logs and interfaces with other units.
So, how does FingerScan work?
FingerScan is a multi-functional personal identification device that takes a three-dimensional scan of a person's finger and compares it against a previously enrolled record. Each person has unclassified identification number which is used to call up their finger record for verification purposes. By entering your number and placing your finger on the optical window, you are authenticated within half a second. No keys, cards, passwords or PINs to remember and you have an irrefutable audit trail of who did what and when.

Integration with eHorizon Payroll
The eHorizon suite of solutions utilizes a modular architecture, so you can select and implement modules in any combination to meet your business requirements. Each module can seamlessly integrate with any other module from other applications within the eHorizon suite.
In this case, it is possible to integrate eHorizon Time and Attendance with eHorizon Payroll. Integration with eHorizon Payroll will allows you to extract attendance information, as per the payroll requirements, to an MS-Excel sheet, and then upload this information after verification and correction to payroll. This features eases the bulk data entry operation normally required. Furthermore, integration with eHorizon Payroll considers the work-set, calendar and pay elements defined in the system while computing and formatting the attendance. It should also be noted that eHorizon Time and Attendance can also integrate with any legacy HR and Payroll.
